Chicks and Chaps – VIP Progressive Supper

The wheat field will be golden , almost ready for harvest, an ideal background for a family photo.
BarOA Flower Farm https://www.facebook.com/baroafarms/ will offer free tours of the flower garden at 11:30/1:30 and 3:30 and Bryanna will do her best to not only share her story of flower farming but will be available to answer your questions.
In the barn you will learn about composting with red worms. For a fee you can make your own composting kit including worms to take home.
Tim Kihn, our local Bee Keeper will be on hand with an observation hive complete with bees. He will have wax and honey for sale.
Pie making demonstrations will take place at 1 and again at 2:00 p.m. in the barn. A special thank you to Fifendekel Pie Shop.
Music by Harold https://www.facebook.com/MusicbyHarold will host a free concert at 1:30. There is no place better to enjoy music than on the hill overlooking a golden crop of wheat.
You can try your hand at a game of Bunnock, purchase and colour a sugar cookie or shop at the ‘General Store’ featuring Alberta products we set up just for Open Farm Days. Perhaps the best activity is to sit back and enjoy the leisurely pace of country living.
You are encouraged to do just that. We love country living and are looking forward to showing you why #ReturnToRural is more than just a hash tag. It’s the Best way to live.

Oh, and check out our VIP experience. You will have four stops to make as you head east of Edmonton.
- First stop is to Crossroads Liquor in Sherwood Park. Jason will introduce you to some of our local distillers and brewers and their products Did you know we have three distillers and one brewer in the County?
- Your next stops take you to Meat me at Codiak, (Their delicious and addictive sausages are on our dinner menu), Herbal Roots (who doesn’t love Cecile’s garlic), Fox and Willow Home Decor/Four Fox Akers (yes we have lovely things in rural Strathcona and you will get a wheat growing 101 lesson from Brock and Angela).
- Your fifth stop will be Our Farm at Experience Alberta for a 5:00 p.m. four course dinner utilizing local products including Thiels GreenHouse/Nadine’s Naked Greens and Chicks n Chaps Open Farm Days Dressing.
It is after all the 10th anniversary of Open Farm Days so a special salad dressing recipe The Bees Knees using Alberta mustard and honey is a must.
Following dinner we will share stories of our experiences, the joys and the pitfalls as local entrepreneurs.
Your VIP ticket includes your meal as well as an experience or product from each of your stops. It’s just like an old style progressive supper. Hey, why don’t we just call it that?

A Strathcona Smash. We used Northline Farmd Rhubarb and Hawke Baby X Vodka but all our local distillers have great vodkas). It’s a great way to end your adventure.
