BarnwellCP Farms is thrilled to be hosting their 6th Open Farm Days event!
Come join us for an exciting day featuring agriculture and specialty crops grown in Southern Alberta. Your hosts, Michel and Hanneke Camps, are a first-generation Canadian farm family who will be showcasing potatoes, sugar beets, grain, canola, and corn. Originally from Holland, they have seen their operation grow from 250 acres to 2,500 acres — and 1,000 of those are now being used to grow potatoes for Canadian families.
This year, they will once again have Alberta Sugar Beet Growers joining, telling the story of #ABsugar22 – the only source of 100% Canadian sugar products (and it’s specifically grown in the Taber area)!
Throughout the day, you can expect:
- Free tours of the machinery, farming practices, and facilities happening every hour – all guided by local farmers.
- Family-friendly booths and activities — race peddle carts, visit the goats, or cool off under the ‘Farmer Spray Park’ — there’s something for everyone!
- The chance to climb in, explore, and learn about the equipment
- To make your own French fries with potatoes straight from the field
- To enjoy Lemonade, cotton-candy, and cookies featuring #ABsugar22
…And so much more!
Ask questions, gain first-hand knowledge about what truly happens on a farm, learn what is put into growing each crop, and experience a day-in-the-life yourself!
We can’t wait to see you there!
