Town

Josephburg Strathcona County

During Open Farm Days at Fairfolk Farm, visitors can join guided tours showcasing our 5-year tree planting project in collaboration with the Agroforestry & Woodlot Extension Society (AWES). These tours will highlight the ecological and agricultural benefits of shelterbelts, including a walk through a newly planted windrow and shelterbelt section.

Guests will learn about the critical role shelterbelts play in supporting biodiversity, reducing wind erosion, and enhancing water retention and the water cycle. By slowing down surface runoff, shelterbelts help recharge groundwater, reduce flooding risks, and maintain moisture in the soil, contributing to more resilient farming systems.

Representatives from AWES will be onsite to provide expert insights into their program and answer questions, offering visitors a deeper understanding of sustainable land and water management practices and the role of agroforestry in regenerative farming.
