Tam and Laurel Andersen are a mother-daughter team, pioneers of agri-tourism and pumpkin farming in Sturgeon County on their small family-owned farm – Prairie Gardens & Adventure Farm. Learn how these women innovate and live a sustainable farm life in the Prairies! A year-round CSA, new apple orchards, and a 35-acre market garden featuring over 150 varieties of local vegetables make for an interesting farm tour. There is a great little farm market with in-season produce, a collaboration with Benny’s Breads offers sweet cinnamon buns and fresh-baked breads. Add some Mewuly’s Charcuterie and Jaune Fleur Cheeses along with Little Bear Gelato to create your own take-out picnic are also available for purchase onsite. Laurel’s special project is heritage chickens – sign up for a private “Rustic as Cluck” workshop to learn about her preservation of these heritage breeds, how to take care of back-yard chickens, and their amazing rainbow of coloured eggs!
