This outdoor event pairs a daytime vendor market with an evening picnic-style meal and concert. Connecting consumers with local producers is our goal.
Saturday, August 14- OUTDOOR PRODUCER MARKET
10:00AM TO 4:00PM | FREE ADMISSION!
In one location we have gathered a collection of ag producers representing their farms and showcasing their fresh products in an open-air market. Discover a unique variety of exceptional local meat products, farm-fresh eggs, organic and naturally grown vegetables and fruits, flavourful preserves, locally crafted cheese, aromatic coffee beans, and more! Members of the Cherhill 4-H Multi Club are ready to show you their interactive displays and introduce you to their feathered friends.
Along with the market, activities for all ages include Garden tours, children’s crafts, and an antique ID contest. Walk with chef Doreen Prei at 3:00PM as she meets our vendors- pick up some tips for your food purchases. Enter a draw for a chance to win a Food Incubator Box filled with new products from farms around the province. Check out our producer profilesto see who you will meet at our market.
Saturday, August 14- OUTDOOR POSH PICNIC AND CONCERT
5:00PM TO 9:00PM | TICKETS ON SALE *
Experience a one-of-a-kind meal prepared by award winning chef Doreen Prei. Delivered to our diners as it is prepared, each course features in-season, locally sourced products. While dining, enjoy a 60-minute concert with genre-hopping musician Martin Kerr. Cash bar open throughout the evening.
Why a Posh Picnic? Our 2021 Rural Roots Farmer Showcase is a hybrid of our 2019 sit-down dinner and 2020 take-home picnic basket. Planning with COVID uncertainties, Chef Prei designed a meal to follow Alberta Health Services’ recommendations. This is a Bring-Your-Own-Blanket (or table and chairs) affair. Groups of diners will be served in their own designated area, spaced out on the Pegg Garden lawn. *Each ticket includes a chance to win a Food Incubator Box filled with new products from farms around the province.
