The Eastern Irrigation District (EID) is providing 2 guided Bassano Dam Tours

Tours run Saturday, August 17th at 10:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m. sharp.

Limited spots are available so pre-registration is required and can be done by calling the EID Office at 403-362-1400 starting Monday July 15th.

The tour provides an opportunity to observe and learn the importance this 110-year old structure plays in the agricultural industry and the District. You will get the chance to walk under the Bow River, check out the new Emergency Spillway, and walk across the main spillway structure to have a closer look at the gates, hoists, and friction wall.

The tour cannot accommodate strollers, wheelchairs, or anyone with limited mobility due to the nature of the facility.

• Directions:

  From the town of Bassano proceed south on 11th Street (graveled) following the road to the right (west) where it becomes TWP Road 21-2. Continue west for 1.6 kilometers and turn left (south) onto RR 18-5. Proceed south approximately 3.2 kilometers (crossing the bridge over the canal). At the top of the hill continue straight through the intersection. Continue on this main road as it turns to the right (west) all the way to the Bassano Dam parking lot.
