Bonnyville

Join us at the Fort Kent Research Farm for Open Farm Days—an engaging, family-friendly event that brings together agriculture, education, and community connection. Visitors can explore a vibrant local artisan market and tradeshow, showcasing regional producers, makers, and agricultural businesses.

Get lost (in the best way) in our corn maze, then dive into hands-on learning experiences across the farm. Our horticulture area highlights practical, regenerative growing approaches, including a no-till garden, greenhouse production, a Three Sisters planting that demonstrates companion cropping rooted in Indigenous knowledge, and a developing orchard that showcases long-term food production and perennial systems suited to our northern climate.

Explore our Living Edge shelterbelt and riparian outdoor classroom, where you’ll see how thoughtful land management supports biodiversity, water health, and long-term resilience on working landscapes. Throughout the day, guests can also tour our research field trials, where applied agricultural studies are underway to support producers with practical, locally relevant information.

Be sure to check out our machinery display, where all of LARA’s equipment will be on-site—offering a closer look at the tools and technology used to support research, land stewardship, and agricultural programming.

Whether you’re a producer, gardener, or simply curious about where your food comes from, Open Farm Days offers something for everyone—grounded in real-world practices and rooted in the Lakeland landscape.
