Educational Component

Alberta Open Farm Days is a province-wide incubator for agriculture tourism. It is a requirement to host educational experiences (Farm tours, farm talks), so it is important that our Host Farms have these styles of sessions going on throughout the weekend. To support you in building out a strong educational experience, we ask that you outline the proposed educational component below that your farm will be offering below:
Please indicate the basis of what the educational component of your farm's Open Farm Days experience will be. It does not need to be fully comprehensive at this point in time.

Host Resources

As a host farm for Open Farm Days, we provide materials to help your event. Please indicate below if you require these add-ons.
Open Farm Days provides Host Buttons for all farms (up to 10) that are helpful to identify you as the Open Farm Days Host/Volunteer. Will you require buttons? We do ask that farms keep their buttons year over year if possible(Required)

Host Farm Signs

Open Farm Days provides road and farm gate signage for participating Host Farms. Farm gate and roadside signs will be assigned at no cost for the following eligible farms: Farms that have never participated in Open Farm Days OR, Host farms that have not received a new sign since 2022.
Will you require Farm signage? Please note the above, that signage will be provided for free to Host Farms that haven't participated before, or haven't participated since 2022.
If you received a sign in 2023, 2024 or 2025 you are not eligible to receive a sign in 2026. We will be issuing signs every 3 years to participating farms.
Signs will be delivered to a designated location by mid-July. Once they’re ready for pickup, we’ll contact each farm with the details. If you're unable to pick up your sign from the designated location, please let us know why below, and a member of the Open Farm Days team will follow up with alternative options.(Required)

Please note the changes for farm gate signs

Open Farm Days provides road and farm gate signage for participating Host Farms,  however in 2024, we changed our policy.

Farm gate and roadside signs will be assigned at no cost for the following eligible farms:

  • Farms that have never participated in Open Farm Days OR
  • Host farms that participated in Open Farm Days in 2022 or earlier (2021, 2020 etc.)

Farms that participated in Open Farm Days in 2025 will not be eligible for a new set of free farm gate signs until 2026.

If you participated in Open Farm Days in 2024 and require additional signage, OR, if you require more than one set, please email info@albertaopenfarmdays.ca for more information regarding pricing of additional signs.
