The Bottrel General Store & Campground, established in 1901, is one of Alberta’s oldest continuously operating general stores and a living connection to the province’s rural history.

During Alberta Open Farm Days, visitors can explore historic photographs and artifacts, learn about early settlement, ranching, transportation and community life in Bottrel, and discover how rural general stores supported local farm families.

On-site activities will include heritage displays, informal history talks, a children’s colouring area featuring Bottrel scenes, a tour of the store and campground, and refreshments available for purchase at Roza’s Café which is located in the General Store.

From Calgary
Take Crowchild Trail/Highway 1A west toward Cochrane.
At Cochrane, turn north onto Highway 22—the Cowboy Trail.
Continue north for approximately 25 kilometres.
Turn right/east onto Highway 574 at the Bottrel turnoff.
Follow the road into Bottrel. The Bottrel General Store & Campground is located at 4 Bottrel Street.

Allow approximately one hour from Calgary, depending on your starting point and traffic.

From Cochrane
Take Highway 22—the Cowboy Trail—north from Cochrane.
Continue north for approximately 25 kilometres.
Turn right/east onto Highway 574 at the Bottrel turnoff.
Follow the road into the hamlet to 4 Bottrel Street.

Allow approximately 25–30 minutes from Cochrane.
