WE LOVE GARLIC!

We’ve been growing garlic for around 15 years and selling it for 10 years. We have the perfect climate for growing gorgeous and tasty varieties of hardneck garlic. That’s the kind that has solid, strong cloves with a central stalk that comes up early in the summer and makes an ‘umbel’ that is full of little bulbs called ‘bulbils’. Our generally cool nights and short growing season seem to suit the plants perfectly – they emerge early in spring which can look a lot like winter in our area. Scapes form quickly in late June, bursting open in mid-July, if they aren’t removed, and the bulbs are ready from late-July to early-August, and are well cured by mid-September. We eat the bulbs starting in July as the new bulbs taste so great.

We have a small herd of Highland Cattle on our natural grass pasture. They’re raised very quietly and we sell the calves live for those who enjoy their beauty and as freezer beef for those who appreciate the lean smaller carcass.
We feel strongly about our soil health and about natural, regenerative growing practices. We do our work by hand and don’t use any chemical fertilizers or weed killers. We enjoy the variety of bug and bird life here and try to support and maintain the healthy ecosystem.

We’re offering free tours of the farm hourly.
