After a life of hard work, mastering a number of different careers, Richard McLeod was ready for our next challenge and turned to his long-time hobby of home-brewing for inspiration. He dreamt up his ideal beer menu and brewery, then spent the better portion of 18 months bringing it to life with help from his wife, Nicole, son, Ethan, and father, Archie, who all work with him at the brewery to this day.
Manual Labour Beer Co is a microbrewery on the edge of suburban and rural life, in the heart of Strathcona County, Alberta. They celebrate the hard work you complete everyday, from pushing the lawnmower, to finishing an honest day’s work, to doing the dishes, to simply putting on a pair of real pants!
They produce a wide range of beer styles, from light lagers to dark stouts, so that every individual can find a beer they love.
The taproom is a friendly neighbourhood gathering spot where locals can connect with each other and celebrate their daily victories.
For Open Farm Days, Manual Labour is putting on an interactive display to showcase the brewing process and highlight exactly how they work with their neighbours to create great beer and great community.
