Farm Type: Pottery Studio

Pottery by Heather Studio is a working production studio, producing a complete line of functional porcelain pottery. The pottery is hand thrown and fired in a gas kiln, making for unique and varied colourations.
During Open Farm Days, Heather will be doing throwing demonstrations and taking visitors step by step through the process. She will be explaining where clay comes from, how pieces are made, how they are finished and firing of the work in the kilns. It is a magical process that is spellbinding.
Being that the pottery studio is the full family income, there will also be discussions of owning and operating and marketing a unique business.
The front of the studio property is a large sustaining vegetable garden. Produce is grown and put away for the winter months. The garden will be available to walk through. We also grow tomatoes along the side of studio and everyone loves to talk tomatoes and gardening.
