Red Deer CountyFarm to Table Tour
EVENT FULLY BOOKED
Up until 2019, Red Deer County’s Agricultural Services Board (ASB) hosted 17 consecutive agricultural tours as a way to showcase local farm and agricultural operations. However, 2019 was the last year of that tour.
Now, we’re excited to bring a whole new tour experience for everyone to enjoy! Not only will we visit three unique farms, but we have the opportunity to converse with farmers one-on-one and taste their produce through talented chefs who promote using locally sourced ingredients as a dining experience set at the stunning Canyon Ski Resort to finish off the night.
Our farm stops include:
Garlic Goodness– A family farm with rich, organic soil where hardneck garlic thrives in six distinct varieties: Chesnok Red, German Red, Music, Prairie Fire, Russian Red, and Yugoslavian. Alongside our bountiful garlic harvest, we cultivate potatoes and onions, all nurtured without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Our commitment to natural farming practices ensures that our vegetables and garlic burst with robust, authentic flavors.
Nestled on our farm is a small herd of Highland and Highland crossbred cattle roam freely, grazing on grass and hay. We take pride in offering sides and quarters of beef raised without hormones or antibiotics, expertly cut and wrapped to your specifications.
Originally from Calgary, we made the bold leap to rural life to raise our family and cattle. Now, with our children grown, we pour our passion into cultivating garlic, a pursuit that keeps us happily occupied.
Red Shed Malting– Operating for nine years, we’ve been instrumental in expanding the range of beer and whiskey styles crafted exclusively from Canadian ingredients. Our passion lies in fostering connections between farmers, brewers, and distillers. We take pride in enabling brewers and distillers to narrate the journey of their grains, emphasizing the essence of locally sourced and meticulously grown ingredients. Experience our products in the form of distinctive beers and spirits available across Alberta, including at esteemed establishments such as Red Hart Brewing, Blindman Brewing, Dark Woods Brewing, Diony Distillery, and Bridgeland Distillery.
YR Bison– As a first-generation family business, we take great pride in watching our sons grow with the ranch, which now spreads over several tracts of land in two separate counties, Red Deer and Wetaskiwin. Our on-site store, located only 8 miles from Red Deer, offers our customers a wide range of bison products and a chance to see the bison roaming the fields. With focus on the future to sustainable farming, we strive to continuously improve the genetics of our bison herds. We are strong believers that healthy soil leads to healthy bison!
Local Chefs preparing the local products for dinner include:
Chef Philip Warren from 53 on Ross
Chef JP Dublado from the Red Deer Resort & Casino, Hiy Steaks, Garden Terrace Lounge
Chef Dany Sok from the Bamboo Hut Southeast Asian Cuisine
Chef Miranda Moesker from Red Deer Polytechnic-Cook Apprentice Program

AND MORE!
