Camrose CountyThompson Farm is a family farm, focusing on producing premium quality freezer beef.
We raise Speckle Park cattle, a breed developed in Canada, which is known for its efficiency of production, as well as producing beef with amazing marbling, taste, and tenderness.
Our vision is to create quality, locally raised beef, while engaging in responsible land management practices and maintaining the well-being of our animals. With a mind to our footprint, we have several ongoing conservation projects with more planned.
On Saturday, we are open for casual tours all day long, with local vendors on site. Children’s activities are offered, opportunity to meet some of our livestock, including cattle, horses, chickens, dogs and cats. We will have a food truck on site with meals available to purchase. They will have a full menu, including dishes prepared with the farm-raised beef we are proud to produce. They will begin serving at 11:00am. Check out the details HERE
- Hop on a wagon tour through our fields and natural vegetation strips as we travel to visit our Speckle Park cattle on pasture. These tours will be offered at regular intervals throughout the day.
- Local vendors will be on site. Freezer beef will be available to purchase, as well as local vendors with seasonal vegetables and eggs. Don’t forget your cooler!
- Kids’ craft table and games.
- Virtual tour of our land in the Battle River Valley, which has been in our family for nearly 100 years. It has been identified as an Environmentally significant area and a conservation priority.
- Demonstration of our *new* remote watering system aimed at promoting water conservation and protecting riparian health.
On Sunday, we are hosting our first Long Table Supper! Join us for 3 courses, prepared by an exceptional local chef, featuring our own locally-raised Prime Rib. A limited number of tickets are available and can be purchased at Eventbrite (link coming soon!). Details are still being confirmed but the tentative schedule is as follows: Farm tours begin at 4:30 pm, cocktails begin at 5:30pm and supper is served at 6:30 pm. Join us for the event of our summer! Please note we are not open to non-ticket holders on this date as we prepare for our evening event.
Visit our farm, where the tradition of farming is now in its 4th generation, with roots in the past and a mind to innovation for the future. Homesteaded in 1902, our values are based on sustainable and responsible management. Built in 1918, our barn has surpassed 100 years, and is still integral to our operation, though so much has changed around it in that time. We are always looking for ways to learn and improve to keep the land we are responsible for healthy for another century.
