Farm Tours

Farm tours are free and last about 30 minutes. We take a walk through the farm, learn about soil health, beneficial insects and plants, solarization, crop rotation, and much more.

We’re thrilled to announce that our farm is taking part in Alberta Open Farm Days this year! Mark your calendars for August 16-17, 2025, and come experience farm life firsthand!

🐄 Get up close with our Hereford, Charolais, and Black Angus cattle, as well as our horses
🌿 Learn about what it takes to raise high-quality livestock
👣 Enjoy guided tours, farm-fresh treats, and family-friendly fun
📸 Don’t forget your camera – there’ll be plenty of photo ops!

We will also be hosting a Sunday Brunch, catered by PS Catering!

Whether you’re a curious visitor, a fellow farmer, or someone who just loves animals and the outdoors, we can’t wait to meet you.

We are a first-generation family farm working to revitalize the small-scale farming lifestyle that is such an important part of Alberta's history. We grow and sell vegetables, herbs and flowers, and we bake, pickle, ferment and dehydrate to sell and store through the long winter months. We also live completely off the grid, meaning that we have no power, water or gas lines to our property. Our power comes from solar panels and is stored in batteries, with a propane generator for backup as we learn how much infrastructure is needed to supply our power needs. We burn wood to heat our home and we capture and store as much rain water as we can to water our gardens. Enjoy a walking tour of our farm to learn about vegetables and sample some fresh homemade treats Buy veggies already washed and bagged, or pick your own veggies or flowers to take home Sample some baked and pickled treats Meet our chickens and backyard bees to learn about egg and honey production Tour our eco-friendly home and green off-grid power system to learn about power infrastructure and management

The Red Brick Common has been preserving and promoting the history and culture of Stony Plain and the surrounding area for over 50 years.

During Open Farm Days:

come explore our living museum that reflects the local agricultural history of Stony Plain and Western Canadian pioneer life including a butter-making demonstration in our Settler's cabin.

• Try some of our organic preserves grown and prepared on-site.
• Check out our public art gallery promoting local and Alberta artists.

Don't forget to pick up a free bread and jam samples. Alongside the 1925 Brick Schoolhouse stands the Oppertshauser House, built in 1910.

Tour the home and witness the lifestyle of the early residents of Stony Plain.

Visit and learn about our urban farm and community garden from our Organic Master Gardener students.

Welcome to The Gathering Place Co-op

A place to purchase locally grown farm-fresh products, ready-to-eat meals, preserves, or a place to enjoy a hot meal in our comfy, cozy, country kitchen. We offer family-style dining and individual plates.

We are a group of small farmers, neighbours, and committed believers in a local food system that makes sense. We work together cooperatively to support one another and offer guest meals made from products with a story grown here in Alberta. 

Our members are humble, but they raise beef, hogs, turkeys, potatoes, beets, tomatoes, garlic, pumpkins, and everything in between. We turn that into meatballs, perogies, burgers, pies, and cakes, and our ingredients are as homemade as you can get. 

We have the perfect space for workshops, clubs, private professional office events, and a learning environment. We can customize our space to make most gatherings comfortable, cozy, and memorable.
