Exploring the Region Through Recipes

In celebration of Alberta’s Open Farm Days, we’ve curated a special digital recipe book that brings the taste of Lethbridge and Canada’s Premier Food Corridor straight to your kitchen. This 45-page book is more than just a collection of recipes; it’s a culinary journey through the region. Featuring contributions from 13 local businesses, the recipe book showcases 25 dishes that range from contemporary creations to beloved homestead favourites.

Participating businesses include a mix of local farms, eateries, and producers such as Broxburn Vegetables & Café, Little Gem Winery, and The Fermentory. Each recipe is a testament to the rich and diverse food culture that defines the Lethbridge area. Plus, the book includes a regional map of Open Farm Days participants, allowing you to not only cook with local ingredients but also plan your visit to these incredible farms and businesses.

Outside of this delectable cookbook, there are also going to be endless activities and opportunities to connect with Lethbridge Farms during the 2024 Alberta Open Farm Days! The Lethbridge region boasts a diverse set of farms – ranging from wineries, to Alpaca Farms, to agricultural societies, and so much more.

Activities in the Area:

If you are interested in getting the full experience, a great option could be the The 2024 Coaldale Agricultural Society Bus tour. This tour will be stopping at five different agricultural stops including, 845 Spud Farms (potato farm), Vaselenak Holdings Ltd. (sugar beet farm), the Hemp Hub (hemp farm), CCWG Livestock Supplies (wool and livestock supplies), and KCL Cattle Company (feedlot and beef production). The tour will start at 9:30am at 845 Spud Farms and end at approximately 4:30 pm at 845 Spud Farms.

Fancying some wine? Little Gem Winery invites you to join them for a delightful day of wine tastings and tours of their award-winning orchard and winery! They will be offering free tastings & tours at 12PM, 1:30PM, and 3PM, that also come with a side of complimentary local Haskap ice cream!

If you’re looking to stay in the spirit of “The Year of the Alpaca”, we suggest heading on over to RichEarth Acres to meet their adorable Alpaca herd, and watch a wide range of spinning and weaving demonstrations.
