This year, we were thrilled to see a record number of host farms participating, opening their doors to Albertans to see where their food comes from, and experiencing the novelty of farm life. Your hospitality and dedication made this event truly special, creating lasting memories and deepening connections between urban and rural communities.
A special thank you goes out to our organizing committee, whose tireless efforts ensured everything ran smoothly. Your passion and commitment are the backbone of this event, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
We also want to extend our gratitude to the press and community supporters who covered Alberta Open Farm Days so wonderfully, amplifying our stories and sharing the magic of agriculture with a wider audience. Your support plays a crucial role in spreading the word and highlighting the importance of Alberta’s farming communities.
This year marked the “Year of the Alpaca,” which created some truly remarkable storylines and opportunities for Albertans to connect with these amazing animals and learn more about Alberta’s rich agricultural heritage. The joy and wonder on visitors’ faces as they interacted with alpacas were a testament to the unique experiences that only Alberta Open Farm Days can offer.

On the topic of next year – we are excited to announce that the 2025 Open Farm Days theme will be water, and the crucial role that it plays in Alberta’s agriculture and its prosperity. Water is truly at the root of farming – whether it be through irrigation, the upbringing and livelihood of animals & crops, the processing of our food, and so much more. This topic excites us – as our province was developed and settled along waterways initially for transportation, and continues to rely on it as the life-blood of agriculture, and Albertan’s collective livelihoods.
We are thrilled to get to work on next year’s Alberta Open Farms Days, and have our sights set on setting yet another host farm and visitor record. So Albertans – consider this your “Save the Date” for the 2025 Alberta Open Farm Days that will be taking place on August 16th & 17th, 2025. We look forward to bringing the province together around agriculture once again, and can’t wait to see you all at a local farm next August!
