Steel Pony Farm is excited to invite you to our 2nd Annual Open Farm Days

We are open Sunday, August 18, 2024 from 10am – 4pm.

As a farm-based food hub, we specialize in offering locally curated food boxes year-round. Our collaboration with local farmers and producers ensures that we bring the freshest veggies, dairy, and pantry items to the community in Central Alberta. Many of our vegetables are grown right here on our chemical-free farm, located just southeast of Red Deer.

On our farm we are dedicated to creating healthy, living soil and practicing sustainable farming methods. We avoid synthetic fertilizers, fungicides, and pesticides. We use cover cropping, crop rotations, and hand/mechanical weeding to manage weeds and nutrition our farm. Come see how we grow our food and learn about sustainable farming and land stewardship!

:: Shop our local mini-farmers’ market featuring 15 local food and artisanal product vendors
:: Face Painting
:: Carrot & Beet U-Pick
:: Food Truck
:: Live music from a young, local talented musician
:: Tables & Chairs to enjoy your coffee or lunch, take in our 8 acre veggie garden, and let your little ones get their faces painted, play or color their Open Farm Days coloring sheets.
:: Coffee & Snack Bar

:: Guided Farm Tour- 11:30 am
:: Machinery Demo Tour – 1:30 pm

Things to note:
Safety:
:: Pets (aside from service animals) are not allowed to visit the farm, please leave them at home.
:: Parents are asked to watch their children at all times in addition to ensuring they are respecting the farm animals.
:: Be mindful of where you are walking as there may be live electric fences.

What To Bring:
:: Dress for the weather: bring layers, and a hat.
:: Sunscreen & insect repellent.
:: Cash for the Artisan Market (e-transfers and debit/credit will be accepted by some vendors).
