Come experience a different kind of farm!

Tierra Flores is a small local farm specializing in medicinal herbs and cut flowers. This year we’re excited to partner with the Agroforestry and Woodlot Extension Society (AWES) to showcase how trees, flowers, herbs, and healthy ecosystems can work together to create more resilient farms.

Throughout the weekend you’ll learn about the principles of agroforestry—the practice of integrating trees and shrubs into agricultural systems—and how these approaches can improve biodiversity, wildlife habitat, soil health, and long-term sustainability.

You’ll also learn about traditional uses of medicinal plants, explore how we grow flowers and herbs using natural and regenerative practices, and watch live demonstrations of essential oil and hydrosol distillation.

AWES staff will be available throughout the weekend to answer questions about tree planting, tree care, shelterbelts, and funding programs available to Alberta landowners.

Our u-pick will be closed, but visitors can create their own bouquet at our bouquet bar.

We will be open for visitors on both August 15 & August 16, from 10 am to 4 pm each day.

Presentation schedule:

Saturday

• 12:00pm – Tree Planting Demonstration 
  • Learn proper tree and shrub planting techniques and the aftercare needed to help them thrive.
• 2:00pm – Tree Pruning Demonstration
  • Learn correct pruning techniques and how to keep trees and shrubs healthy.
• 3:00pm – Traditional Uses of Plants 
  • Learn how plants have traditionally been used for health and wellness.

Sunday

• 12:00pm – Natural Farming Practices
  • Learn how we work with nature to build healthy soils, reduce inputs, and grow without synthetic pesticides or herbicides.
• 2:00pm – Traditional Uses of Plants
  • A second opportunity to attend this popular presentation.

Feel free to bring a picnic lunch, wander around the farm, and visit with the chickens.
