From Farms to Front Pages: Alberta Open Farm Days 2025 in the Headlines
Alberta Open Farm Days 2025 once again proved that curiosity, community, and agriculture are at the heart of Alberta’s story. Nearly 150 host farms opened their gates this August, inviting visitors from across the province—and beyond—to connect with the people, practices, and products that keep our food system strong.
A Province-Wide Thank You
First, a heartfelt thank you to the farms. The passion and dedication of Alberta’s producers are what make Open Farm Days possible. Every activity—from wagon rides to pancake breakfasts, from aqueduct tours to alpaca demonstrations—reflects the tireless work of farmers who care deeply about their land, their water, and their communities.
We also extend our gratitude to our sponsors, whose support helps us grow this initiative year after year. And finally, to the thousands of Albertans and visitors who spent their weekend exploring the countryside—thank you. Your curiosity and enthusiasm are what keep this event thriving.
Record Crowds, Memorable Experiences
While final numbers are still being tallied, many host farms have already reported record attendance. Parking lots were full, fields bustled with activity, and conversations flowed easily between farmers and guests. The excitement was palpable, whether it was someone tasting fresh goat cheese for the first time, discovering a new local beer, or learning how irrigation systems shape the future of Alberta crops.
This year’s theme—Water: The Lifeblood of Every Farm—was woven through stories and experiences at many farms. Visitors learned how dugouts sustain livestock, how wetlands protect ecosystems, and how conservation practices ensure future harvests. It was a reminder that water is more than a resource—it’s the thread that connects every farm, every community, and every table.
Farms That Left Lasting Impressions
Our team had the chance to personally visit farms across the province, and we were blown away by the creativity and care that went into each experience. From interactive kids’ activities to thoughtfully prepared farm-to-table tastings, Alberta’s farmers once again showed that hosting the public isn’t just about opening a gate—it’s about opening a story.
Visitors walked away with more than souvenirs. Many discovered new favourite products—farm-fresh honey, handmade cheeses, pasture-raised meats, and artisanal goods—that will keep them connected to Alberta producers long after the weekend. Open Farm Days is designed as a spark, but the real impact happens when Albertans continue to support these farms throughout the year.

Looking Ahead
As we close another successful year, we’re reminded that Open Farm Days is more than a weekend—it’s a movement. Each farm visit sparks conversations, builds relationships, and strengthens local food systems. We encourage everyone who attended to keep those connections alive: follow your favourite farms on social media, buy their products at markets or stores, and share their stories with friends.
Water will continue to guide our theme in the years ahead, reminding us that stewardship and sustainability are essential for Alberta’s agricultural future. Together—with farmers, sponsors, partners, and visitors—we can ensure that Alberta Open Farm Days remains a cornerstone of community, culture, and conservation.
See You Next Year
Thank you once again to the farmers, sponsors, and Albertans who made 2025 unforgettable. We can’t wait to welcome you back in 2026 for another chance to explore Alberta’s farms, fields, and food.
