We produce a variety of craft beer using top quality ingredients, including Alberta grown malt. Our products are all brewed and packaged in-house. Our tour will include a walk through of the brewing facility, discussing the process from start to finish. Where we source ingredients, what we do with our spent grain, how we brew and package our products, and how we distribute them. Tours may also include samples (must be 18+).

  This is a great chance to get up close to some of our livestock, and a full in depth view of the Butchershop. This is where we process all the animals on site for a full beginning to end, Farm to Table experience for our customers. 5S Farms is a fully licensed Butchershop and retail location. We will being doing some meat processing Demo's through the day and Hosting a BBQ for lunch.

Pig Cutting demo will be approximately 90 minute session. Will demonstrate how to break down a half of a pig into the cuts you would see at your local grocery store and some cuts most major retail chains do not offer. Will give a guided breakdown of the processes, the tools used and regulations that govern our butchershop as well as the knowledge so that the consumer can not only make smarter choices on what they eat, but what best suits their families. All visitors will be able to tour the butchershop during these sessions and spend as little or as much time as they like, whether its just watching or asking questions.  

ALCLA Native Plants is a native plant nursery founded in 1992 and operating in Carstairs since 2023.

We offer genetically diverse, sustainably sourced native plants and seeds—featuring over 200 species of wildflowers, grasses, and shrubs native to Alberta, on Treaty 7 Territory. We also provide custom growing and educational services. Native plants are climate-adapted, drought-tolerant once established, and essential for supporting pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. They’re also stunningly beautiful—and many have edible and medicinal properties. All of our plants and seeds are free of chemical pesticides.

We welcome you all to our homestead, where we're operating a CSA style market garden.

We will be running free tours of our property hourly.

Again this year we will have the delicious sourdough creations from Three Sisters! We are excited to have our new cows for you to meet!

• You will also meet out adorable Nigerian Dwarf goats, piglets, lambs and turkeys!
• You will also get a tour of our gardens and learn about our no spray, low till systems.
• We will have a selection of in season veggies for sale. Our garlic will be fresh out of the ground as well!
• You will have the opportunity to purchase some feed. So you can go in to feed and play with the goats and lambs.

Cash works best however we have square as well for debit/credit. Please leave your four legged friends at home.  We do have farm dogs and they don't like competition for attention. We have electric fencing, assume all fencing is live and stay with the tour please.

You are welcome to take a self directed tour of our fruit, veggie and flower u-pick farm.  Pick your way through our beautiful gardens! Produce is neatly labeled to better understand what the plants are.

We are a family farm growing U pick fruits and vegetables since 2009 starting with our first crop of strawberries which promptly got hit with hail!  Days later there was a strong scent of berry juice, shock and heartbreak in the air.  What an education! Crops can be gone in minutes - frost on blossoms, drought and heat, hail and snow, it's crazy. What a business to be in!  But it's not always horrible and we enjoy nurturing seedlings and seeing them mature into something people enjoy picking. After a long Alberta winter's wait, the rush of Spring begins with planning and planting, tending, weeding, watering and sky watching.  Cool Alberta nights produce the best tasting crops!  And when it’s time, the invitation goes out via word of mouth and social media to come over and pick, pick pick!  In 2023 we added more picking pleasure for our customers:  a u pick flower garden! Even though we are open to the public from 7am to 8pm everyday during the production months, we thank Alberta Open Farm Days and all the advertiser’s for extending an extra invitation to come explore rural Alberta and Billyco Junction Gardens where we can be found tucked right between our major urban centres. This 45-minute wagon tour is perfect for anyone looking to unwind, connect or reconnect with how food is produced on our farm, and get to know us.

You will discover how important water is on our farm. How and why our solar pumping system is used to water our cattle from a well.  Also, what the daily water needs are for cattle.  You will get to meet our cows with their babies, watch them graze, and interact with each other. Get ready to soak up the sunshine, breathe in the fresh air, and have a ride through our pastures with a bonus ride by the pumpkin patch opening September weekends. When you know where your food comes from, the land that the cattle graze, the crisp prairie air that they breathe in, the ranchers that raise them since birth…Our beef is raised with love and care. Remember to bring a cooler, we will have our angus beef available for purchase.

We will have horse drawn and tractor drawn wagon rides that tour through our farm and orchard. As well as a juicing demonstration with berries from our own orchard.

Custom Woolen Mills is a small, family owned and operated, woolen mill!

We are located between the towns of Carstairs and Linden, Alberta. Using industrial revolution era machinery, we transform raw sheep's wool and the fibre from alpacas, llamas, goats, and bison, into finished products like hand-knitting yarns and woolen socks.

Join us for the opportunity to see some of the machinery in operation, meet our sheep and llama, shop our little store, and participate in a woolen craft for all ages!

  Six generations of family farming later, we operate a mixed farm consisting primarily of vegetables, cattle, and traditional grain crops. We are known for Alberta's largest asparagus patch, freshly hand-picked super sweet garden peas, and lots of other great vegetables.

We are offering free tours* to our veggie fields on Saturday August 15, 2026!

• Come learn all about our farm and vegetable production in Alberta and try your hand at picking super sweet shelling peas, green & yellow beans, broad beans and more (based on availability).

• After the tour pop into our Country Store for some great hand-picked fresh vegetables, handmade take and bake fruit and savoury pies, preserves, Angus beef and so much more!

• Please note we are not open on Sunday. 

Our Country Store is all about home grown goodness! We offer farm-direct seasonal farm gate sales of our home grown sweet and tender Asparagus Mid May until the end of June, freshly picked garden peas July & August and many other veggies. In the freezer, you can pick up Edgar Farms home raised, hormone- and antibiotic-free, grass fed Angus beef. Also there are naturally fermented veggies, asparagus, green pea and borscht soups and ready-to-bake homemade fruit & savoury pies. The preserves shelves are brimming with a large selection of handmade preserves using traditional recipes and our own home grown ingredients with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Everything is natural as it should be. Don’t forget your cooler! The Country Store is open 10 AM – 5 PM Monday to Saturday, Closed Sundays, from early May until early September.

*Tours to the vegetable fields are offered on a first come first served basis and are weather dependent.

At Ehrenholz Farms, we raise mixed-breed beef cattle. When you come visit us, you'll meet some of the cows and learn how we manage the cattle and the land through our grazing management. You will see demonstrations of an off-site watering system and temporary electric fencing. You will also be able to examine our cattle handling equipment and view an exhibit showing different parts of a cow and how it is cut up into beef. There will be no set schedule of events. Rather, there will be several stations for you to move through, each manned by someone competent to speak to you about what you are seeing.

Chicks n Chaps Farm is home to the Airbnb Heartland Bunkhouse. Check out the bunkhouse on Open Farm Days - who knows you may want to escape to the farm in the future and The Heartland Bunkhouse could be your home away from home. Remember to bring your camera and if you like to paint it will be the perfect time for Plein air.

Fellowship Farms is planting new roots- and we'd love for you to be a part of the journey!

 

This year, we're inviting guests to visit our new farm location, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how we're building a farm to not only raise our growing cattle herd, but to grow community as well.

Only a short 25 minute drive east of Edmonton, nestled in the Beaver Hills Biosphere, you will find a small farm with a BIG heart for people, animals, the local community and regenerative farming practices. With this year's theme of WATER, your visit will include some hands on stations about how water plays a vital role in everything we do, because after all - water is the lifeblood of every farm.

We will also have:

• a "dirt zone" for kids to play with diggers, tractors, and bouncy animals
• animals that you can meet up close - cows, pigs, horses, a mini donkey and more.
• a farm stand where you can purchase our products

Because we are a direct to consumer meat producer, we will of course have frozen meat available for purchase. We raise grass-fed and finished beef and heritage pastured pork. From ground beef to brisket, bacon to pork shoulders and everything in between, there is something for every meat lover out there. Bring a cooler along if you'd like to purchase some of our meat. We also have tallow products and spice blends that we make here on the farm. There will be food and drinks available for purchase on site. Step back into the past with a visit to the original Pegg family farmstead, established in 1913.

  Join us to learn about the challenges our early farmers faced and the inventive ways they provided water for raising livestock and doing daily household chores. Young George developed a keen interest in plants and as an adult he made valuable contributions to the record of Alberta’s native plants. His original plant collector’s garden is the centerpiece of this site. Also on site: Meet our talented artists at the 11th Annual Art in the Garden Show and Sale. Maverick’s Donuts is selling delectable works of art that will delight your taste buds.

Come join us for an afternoon of fun!

  On our farm where we raise Chickens, Pigs and Cattle, all on pasture or in the forest.

We will do guided Farm Tours at 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm, and 4:30 pm followed by equipment tours for whoever is interested.

• Starting at 6pm we will have a fire pit going (or BBQ depending on weather) and everyone is welcome to bring a picnic supper and something to roast on the fire.
• There is a swing set and some lawn games available for kids (or adults) to play with.
• You are also welcome to explore the farm on your own or visit with one of us by the Tent. Coffee, Lemonade and Water provided.
• The 4:30pm guided tour will include our evening chore time where we will feed and water animals, move cows to fresh grass and collect eggs from the layers!

The tours will involve quite a bit of walking through pasture and forest. Closed toed shoes are recommended. Also come prepared for the weather and please leave pets at home. We would kindly ask that you stay out of animals pens unless a farm team member is with you. ***We have some new and Exciting things planned for this year!   Tours will be on Saturday at 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:00 pm. Find out where our ingredients come from and how we make our award-winning brews, led by our incredible brewer, Shawna! Additionally, you will be able to try free samples of our products! We also have a special Alberta brew, especially for Open Farm Tour Days, called "Crop Duster"! Anyone who joined in will also receive 10% off of any purchase following the tour. For families, we have fresh handmade fire-roasted pizza by La Pizza Napolenta and lots of games such as Giant Connect4, foosball, cornhole, and tons of board games, with live music by Mad Chad & Claude starting around 7:30 pm if you want to end your tour with us!

Hi my name is Sylvia. I am the owner of the Lone Pine Ranch Bed and Breakfast. With the support of volunteers from all over the world I run a herd of cattle and the B&B.

When you come and visit our place our 3 dogs Jake, Shiloh and Willow will be the first ones to meet you, they love to welcome everyone of our guests personally.
But there are many more animals to see: 
Alpacas, llamas, sheep, chickens, ducks, pigs, cats, guinea fowl, donkeys, a horse and a pony call the Lone Pine Ranch home. We are an active cattle ranch, cows, calves and bulls are here, but not necessarily in sight.

Besides all the animals, we also run a Bed & Breakfast. Visitors can explore our cozy cabins and check out our dining room treats.

There will also be a Country Market and Garage Sale at the ranch on Sunday the 16th of August with a variety of vendors from the region and Edmonton. Outdoor activities will include a roping station, horseshoe pitching, glitter tattoos and other games.

Everyone is welcome to check out and observe the animals. There are eggs to collect in the chicken coop and we provide snacks so you can feed to the donkeys. For the Country market we will have a petting area for our sheep set up and you can watch our potbelly pigs relax in the sun.

The Canadian Grain Elevator Discovery Centre is a set of restored grain elevators located in Nanton.

  The Centre’s goal is to preserve these three remaining prairie icons to educate visitors about Nanton’s and Alberta’s agricultural history. As often as possible, tours are conducted by former grain elevator managers or employees, who are a wealth of information about these “skyscrapers of the prairies” that were so closely tied to the well-being of Alberta communities for so many years.

• Participants will enjoy tours of the restored Pioneer grain elevator and see the rare 1929 Alberta Pool twin elevators.
• Weather permitting, we will be holding engine runs featuring a 1/4 scale Case steam tractor model as well as a Fairbanks grain elevator engine.

 

Tour our first-generation homestead where we live fully off the grid, growing food the way our grandparents did - by hand, with patience and with deep respect for the land. Learn how solar panels and batteries supply our energy and the compromises we make to minimize our electricity needs. See the work-in-progress rain capture system as we expand to supply all of our gardens. Explore our cover cropping experiments that build soil rather than deplete it, minimizing chemical inputs like fertilizer. Learn how we rotate and protect our crops from pests both big and small. View our hard-working farm animals (from a distance!) like the dog who protects and entertains us as we work, the bees who pollinate our gardens, the cat who keeps small pests away and the chickens who produce our eggs. Try some tasty treats from our farm stand to sample the incredible food this land provides and ask how we preserve and store it to minimize waste. The resources on our land have been purposefully cultivated to support not only sustainable farming but a sustainable business model, balancing a modest living for ourselves and reasonable prices for our customers, so bring your curiosity. We love to share how this land feeds us, challenges us and connects us to our community! As we are a working farm we ask that you please leave your own pets at home to support bio-security and minimize disruption to our animals.

The Olds College Smart Farm is made up of more than 3,000 acres of land

  It is used for crop and forage production including state-of-the-art equipment and technology, 1,000-head capacity feedlot, commercial cow/calf herd, Purebred Red Angus herd and sheep flock — as well as expertise and leadership in ag tech research and development. The Smart Farm also has access to greenhouses, labs, incubator space, a brewery, the National Meat Training Centre, plus additional infrastructure at Olds College of Agriculture & Technology. Primarily focused on five main areas of applied research — autonomous agricultural equipment, sensors, data utilization, technology development and validation, and regenerative agriculture — the Smart Farm is working towards providing producers with real-life applied research to help them make informed decisions about implementing technology in their own operations.

We are a collaborative farm that produces fresh veggies, flowers, eggs, and honey. We believe in building community surrounding food and offer a CSA veggie box subscription. We are offering tours of the site focusing on sustainability. This includes sharing our story and the benefits of collaboration, water conservation practices, and seed production. We will also be highlighting our composting practices with animal integration. Our site makes use of food waste which our chickens and pigs help compost. We also take in arborist waste to help build soil and conserve water through deep mulching. The flower u pick and farm stand will be open and we will be inviting other local vendors out for a mini market. Food will also be available on site from a mobile food vendor.

We will be open Saturday August 16th 10:00 am until 6:00 pm and Sunday August 17th  10:00 am until 5:00 pm

Pitchfork Gardens opened in 2020. We grow a variety of vegetables plus strawberries and raspberries for you to pick. We grow the normal to the wild, well as wild as vegetables can get. As the season runs from spring into the fall the types of vegetables change with the season. We grow the following but not limited to: apples, beets, beet greens, beans, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, dill, fennel, garlic, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, onions, peas, peppers -sweet and hot, potatoes, raspberries, shallots, strawberries, tomatoes The exact varieties are numerous for all types. For example we have 20 different tomatoes, 15 different peppers, 5 types of beans, two types of peas, 5 types of onions, 3 types of leeks and 4 types of types.

Activities during the Open Farm Days Event

• PLANT A DRAGON (dragon's tongue bean) and take it home with you to watch it grow
• hot dog and a pop for $5, donated to the County of Lamont Food Bank
• garden tours, may encounter rough terrain, rocks, gravel

Pottery by Heather Studio is a working production studio, producing a complete line of functional porcelain pottery. The pottery is hand thrown and fired in a gas kiln, making for unique and varied colourations. During Open Farm Days, Heather will be doing throwing demonstrations and taking visitors step by step through the process. She will be explaining where clay comes from, how pieces are made, how they are finished and firing of the work in the kilns. It is a magical process that is spellbinding. Being that the pottery studio is the full family income, there will also be discussions of owning and operating and marketing a unique business. The front of the studio property is a large sustaining vegetable garden. Produce is grown and put away for the winter months. The garden will be available to walk through. We also grow tomatoes along the side of studio and everyone loves to talk tomatoes and gardening.

Providence Lane Homestead is a small-scale regenerative farm located just 45 minutes northwest of downtown Calgary. Since 2019, we have been Canada's only dedicated fibre farm to be certified Animal Welfare Approved by A Greener World. With our flock of endangered heritage breed Border Leicesters - the breed was featured in the movie "Babe" - and a small troop of alpacas, we use our flerd to carefully manage the land we steward, including eight hectares of native prairie, a small outpost in a critically-endangered prairie ecosystem. We believe in building community and have worked extensively with many partners, including the University of Calgary, the Alberta University of the Arts, Emily Carr University of Art + Design as well as our amazing conservation partners like MultiSAR and Cows and Fish as well as other community members (we call them our fibre friends) like our amazingly supportive handspinners and weavers, artists, makers and more. We prioritize climate resilience and rare breed conservation as we work hard to raise our heritage breed sheep in an environment where they will not only thrive, but they'll also become a critical part of building healthy soil, water and carbon cycles. As much as we can be, we are an inclusive environment and welcome guests from every walk of life. Should guardian breeds be pets?
• Go for a walk and get your hands dirty with Dr. Steven Tannas as we explore the ecology of native prairie grasslands and some straight talk about what it takes to actually restore native grasslands once they've been altered.
• Pull up a patch and settle in for some yarnin' about life on the prairie from some local (and colourful) storytellers. If you jog her memory, Tara might even tell the story about would-be ostrich wrangler, Chicken Fred. You don't want to miss it!

Quiet Hills Ranch is a family run beef cow and calf farm, which grows a lot of hay.

  We are located within the Beaver Hills Biosphere and have rolling grasslands and forests on our land.

• On your visit you will be able to take a tractor and wagon ride through the pastures to see mother cows with their babies.

• We will also teach you about hay and pasture plants.

• You can go for a walk to enjoy the birds and wildflowers or relax in the shade near the farmhouse.

• We have cats, dogs, horses and chickens in our barns.

Rig Hand Craft Distillery is a grain to glass distillery and is in the unique position of being the first craft distillery in the greater Edmonton area. Our family business makes vodka, rum, whiskey, gin, moonshine, and our award-winning coffee cream liquor that is locally sourced, produced, and distributed. Our main grain supplier is Schneider Farms, a fourth-generation farm located three miles from the distillery. Our products are packaged in a distinctive trademarked bottle that is a replica of the Leduc #1 drilling rig, paying tribute to our rich history of both agriculture and resource development in Alberta. It is Alberta in a Bottle. Our aim is the be a leader in the craft industry and foster partnerships with other local businesses while producing the highest quality spirits possible for our customers. We offer tours and tastings, and both private and semi-private events. Our distillery is located on a working hobby farm, utilizing the land and the livestock.

For 2024 Alberta Open Farm Days we will be hosting hourly tours as usual.

Spend time with real working sled dogs and experience a part of Canada that even many people here no longer truly know. At Rocky Wolf Ranch, visitors will be introduced to our sled dogs, with a particular focus on the Canadian Eskimo Dog — a rare, original Canadian breed of significant cultural and historical importance. These dogs have shaped life in the North over generations and were essential for transportation, hunting, and survival under extreme conditions. Today, they are largely unknown even within Canada and, with only around 400 animals worldwide, are among the most endangered sled dog breeds. During the visit, guests will learn about the history, breeding, training, and daily work of these dogs. They will experience how a sled dog team functions, how the dogs communicate with each other, and what fundamentally sets them apart from typical companion animals. In a guided and safe environment, visitors will have the opportunity to observe the dogs up close and interact with them. This provides insight into behaviour, pack dynamics, and the unique relationship between humans and working dogs. This experience is intentionally calm and authentic. It is not about entertainment, but about genuine understanding — of the dogs, their history, and their future.

We will be hosting an Open Farms Day end BBQ where visitors and Host are able to attend to end their exciting day. On site we will have many vendors of Local producers (Taste of Barrhead) that will be there to interact with many visitors. Those who have not been able to attend their farm during the day, will have the opportunity to see a few animals and be educated on what farming is all about. Demonstrations with also be shown throughout the 4 hours they are open.

  When the Alberta Wheat Pool company announced the demolition of the Grain Elevator in 1995, the Society stepped in, purchasing the 1958 Grain Elevator for $1, thereby preserving it as a lasting legacy of the Agricultural history of the area. Today it is a Provincial Historic Resource and a functioning museum, visited by several thousand visitors from all over.

Welcome to the Cherry Farm!

  The Cherry Farm is home to 600+ cherry trees, 150 haskaps, 60 apple trees, 14 highbush cranberries, and choke cherries; all available for u-pick at different times throughout the summer and fall. Some cherry varieties will be ready to pick at Open Farm Days. Have you ever picked a cherry off the tree? There is nothing quite like it. Our trees are all under 7 ft tall, so even toddlers can experience the joy of picking fruit. There will be some great photo opportunities on your visit.

Throughout the Open Farm Days weekend you may experience orchard tours, pruning demonstrations, u-pick and of course some great cherry eats-

Did you know that we have small batch ice cream made using the fruit from our orchard? You will want to make sure to try it while you are there! There are five flavors to choose from including Cherry Almond, Cherry Cheesecake, Vanilla Cherry, Black Forest and Haskap.

We will have pulled pork or beef on a bun for purchase.

The Lilac Row is a cut-flower family farm in near Coaldale Alberta.

  We offer fresh seasonal bouquets, full wedding services, and specialize in creating unique events such as flower U-Picks, workshops, and classes. Our on-farm flower U-Pick gives guests the opportunity to choose, cut, and arrange their own bouquets with the help of your farmer florists. We also host on-farm private and public events. Hosting an event yourself? We can also bring the blooms to you with our flower trailer named Sarah!

We are thrilled to invite guests to our farm for a complimentary garden tour, where we'll discuss our cut flower production and the challenges of growing flowers in Southern Alberta. Guests can purchase one of our fresh bouquets to take home or simply enjoy conversations about gardening and ask any questions they may have.

  Attached to our barn is our greenhouse and a patio area where guests can relax with a coffee while witnessing the cultivation of our own food and plants for the cafe and venue. Experience the pleasure of the outdoors within our indoor setting. Additionally, we are actively engaged in vermicomposting with Red Wiggler Worms. Learn how this system can be implemented in your gardens and homes to manage compostable items effectively. Witness the efficiency of these hardworking worms as they enrich the soil, resulting in faster and larger produce compared to traditional outdoor vegetable beds.

Upon visiting the Venue, you will receive a starter pack of red wigglers and guidance on creating your own vermicomposting gardens. Let us demonstrate the dedication of these tiny creatures in enriching your garden soil and nourishing your houseplants while handling the composting process for you.

 

We offer free, guided walking tours of our farm throughout the day, guided by one of our family members; Rod, Andria, Jessica or Briana.

  Our other family members, Janet, Derrick and others will be assisting with registration, lunch and kids play area. Rod and Janet started farming in the Dapp area in 1989 and have implemented many practices and management systems to improve the soils, vegetation, and wildlife of the farmland while also growing the farm business into a successful operation that is now in transition to the next generation. We raise cattle, poultry and hogs for our farm-direct meat business and we will have a variety of products available to purchase and take home that day! So we suggest that you bring a cooler or box!

Welcome to the Trochu & District Museum and Tourist Information Centre!

 

• Come by and enjoy displays featuring our history from 1900s French settlers to the demolition of one of our grain elevators.
• See the printing presses and linotype machine used to print our local paper for many decades.
• Take a walking tour of our downtown murals or search for your family history in our archives.

The Trochu and District Museum will be exhibiting heritage farm tools and photos at the Trochu Arboretum as well as at their downtown location.

 

Pioneer Outpost

Attention Fernie and Crowsnest bound travelers! Spice up your road trip and make the Pioneer Outpost a pit stop on your next drive down the Cowboy Trail. Located on the U Lazy U ranch 3km south of Chain Lakes Provincial Park, the Outpost is a perfect place to stretch your legs, take in some scenery and load up on Alberta's finest meats. Offerings will include the full line of Pioneer products, a selection of locally sourced pantry items and even firewood for your weekend adventure. Pasture raised beef is raised on our property. Our sons have a butchery and charcuterie business and we sell their product here.

We have 320 acres. We will have horse in a corral for people to visit. We will have some games for kids

 

Come, See and Learn where your milk is coming from !

  Come and see our wonderful dairy cows ! We are a local family run dairy farm with 140 milking cows. Located 25 Km West of Innisfail on Highway 54. Started the dairy in 2001.  Our cows live in a free stall barn. And we milk our cows in a herringbone milk parlor. We are raising our baby heifer calves as well.

• To give you an inside look of the dairy operation, we are giving tours of our dairy.

• There will be fun games and activities for kids and you can try to milk Daisy our milk cow too !

And also, have a visit at The Dairy Saloon, Chapman's Ice cream, home made Apple Pie and Sylvan Star cheese will be available. Our facilities are wheel chair accessible as well. Hope to see you !

• Visitors will then be taken to Pen #1 where the selected group are penned to take part in the information Session.
• There will be a host to then take you out the rest of the herd’
• You will complete the tour with washing demo and carding and spinning.

Visitors will then have an opportunity to visit the sales table. Accommodations Seating areas, picnic table. Bathroom avail in farm house. No public toilet. 2 hand washing stations 1 at viewing pen 1 by the demo table where the washing of mohair takes place. What does this visit mean to someone who has not stepped on to a farm before? A completely different life style then what they have in the city! Things you will learn:

• Much of the meat comes from the herd.
• Care of animals is a daily priority
• Certain procedures are seasonal shearing for example is done the first week in March and Labor day weekend.
• Kidding out takes place from Mid Feb To early April

Wild Country Gardens is made up of a fruit and vegetable farm

We are open Saturday and Sunday! Can't wait to see you.

We are nestled in a beautiful forested area near Wildwood, Alberta just off of Yellowhead Highway. Our orchard consists of over 3000 fruit trees and bushes, all planted by us over the last 16 years. The Gardens feature approximately 2500 heads of garlics and a large variety of vegetables and herbs which we use for making our products.

We will be offering guided tours of our farm explaining our farming practices and what is working for us. The tour can take as long as 30 minutes and up to 1 hour depending on the group.

We also offer the opportunity to shop in Wild Country Gardens Farm Store which is filled with Alberta made products all made by us, such as preserves: jams, syrups, pickles, sauerkraut and pepper jellies,

Frozen fruits (Haskap, Saskatoons, Cherries) $6 per lb,

New to our farm is our Freeze Dried Products: Fruit Snacks, Fruit Smoothie Mixes, Fruit, Vegetables and Herbs; Local Made Soaps, Candy, and Ice Cream Treats.

Our Puschens are one of a kind. Made and designed by Paulette, they are crocheted slippers with leather soles lined with sheepskin and accented with deer antler buttons.

The Windy Rafters Barn farm was homesteaded in 1905 and has the 6th generation on it now.

  Presently operated as mixed farming with a few cattle. Our favorite focus is on what life was like when the area was homesteaded in 1905. Activities that highlight this focus are: TOURS: 1910 Work horse barn, 1905 one room school, replica 1905 homestead cabin, weaving shed, Hay wagon tour of the area and history.
